Once you click on search, you'll find tons of options. Do not get overwhelmed on how many styles and types of dresses there are. Some sites have options to narrow you search down to a particular cut or style like halter, A-line, short dresses, etc.

Showing Skin: The general rule is summer-winter, winter summer. It means that if you're showing skin on the top half of you body you should be covered on your lower half and vice versa. Too much skin will make you look inappropriate and distasteful. A backless dress would look more elegant if it is a long dress. While short dresses should have a simpler top that does not reveal too much cleavage or back.

For the shoes, strappy heels are in and it makes your feet look sexy and your legs lean. But for those with height issues, avoid shoes with ankle strap if you want to create an illusion of long legs. The Right Hair and Make Up: Consult with your hair stylist what would look best for you considering the dress you'll wear. Make sure the stylist have a clear idea of your dress or better yet, bring it with you so he/she could see. During consultation, do not be afraid to say how you want to look.
